What is the role of CPF in South Africa?
SAPS Act 68 of 1995, legislated that Community Police Forums (CPF) as the only recognised consultative forum designed to permit communities to make their policing concerns known to the police. The CPF is a legal community structure mandated to facilitate community–police relations within a specific police station precinct (police station boundary) and serves as the mouthpiece of the community with the police and vice versa on policing.
Community Policing Forums (CPF's) bring the police and community together, assisting in bridging the gap between the public and the police to solve problems and challenges of crime. If we work together, we can make our community a safe community
Duties
Patrolling of residential and business areas. Keeping records, writing reports and making recommendations to the Station Commissioners, Provincial Commissioner and the MEC. The CPF will ask questions about local policing matters and request enquiries when necessary.
